NB: from 1911 until 1923 the championship was
organized by the FA of Niederösterreich
(the province of which Vienna was the capital), and contained only teams from Vienna. It was then taken over by a newly formed FA
of Vienna (WFV, Wiener Fußball-Verband), which organized the first professional
league on the European continent in 1924/25.
After the Anschluß in 1938 the German authorities
organized a championship of the Gauliga Ostmark, in which for the first
time some clubs from outside Vienna were included (Sturm Graz had failed to
gain promotion in the playoffs 1937). In
the firstyears after WW II, the championship was restricted to clubs fromVienna
until 1948/49; in 1949/50 clubs from outside gained admission for the first time.
Remarks:
Austria Wien were known as Amateure until the
mid-twenties. Admira and Wacker Wien merged around 1970, long played as
Admira/Wacker in the Südstadt Stadium (Maria Enzersdorf), until the merger
withVfB Mödling in 1997, which saw them renamed VfB Admira/Wacker
Mödling.Wacker Innsbruck changed names very often, and also merged with WSG
Wattensfor a few seasons. Their current
name is FC Wacker Innsbruck.Salzburg won 3 titles as SV Austria Salzburg (with
differing sponsor namesattached) before they were taken over by Red Bull and
completely rebranded;the 9 titles won under that guise may be considered as
having been won bya separate club. SV
Austria Salzburg were refounded and rose from the lowestregional level to the
second national level in 2015/16, but only lasted asingle season there.

also full results since 1958/59 and cup winners of Länder.
Note
that until 1935 only Viennese teams were admitted, and the tournament was known
as the "Wiener Cup".
In 1906/07 a tournament for the Wiener Cup was played as
compensation for the abandoned championship ([Pil
04], [Vie 19]):
1906/07 First
Vienna 1-0 Floridsdorfer AC
On three occasions a cup
tournament for 2. Klasse teams (and reserve sides of 1. Klasse clubs) was
organised:
1904/05 Vienna IB 3-1 1. Simmeringer SC
1905-07 SC
Rudolfshügel 4-2 Graphia Wien II
1909/10 Cricketer
Reserves 3-2 Hertha
In 1914/15 another cup competition was played
because the league competition had been reduced to a single round due to the
outbreak of World War I; participation was not obligatory.
1914/15 Floridsdorfer
AC 3-1 Admira
In 1917/18 another cup competition was organised
by the NÖFV; participation was not obligatory and Rapid and WAF did not enter;
WAC were disqualified after beating Amateure, because of having shown up too
late; the final was reached by Floridsdorfer AC and Amateure:
1917/18 Floridsdorfer AC n/p
Amateure
At the match, the weather
was bad, the pitch difficult to play and attendance low; the referee declared
the pitch playable but both teams refused and insisted on moving the match by a
week (in the hope of higher attendance and thus earnings); the NÖFV declared
both teams had forfeited and withheld the Cup; the teams then played a match
for a Cup made available by themselves and Floridsdorfer AC won 4-3.
